During WW 2 Hitler used different headquarters. His most beloved one was on a mountain south of Berchtesgaden, later on called the Eagle Nest. Even before he came into power in Germany he lived there for a while and completed his book "My Fight". Most original buildings are gone in the meanwhile (only some original bunkers are still there) but therefore there is a well done historic documentation.
