The Beer - Tour

Of all the things Germany is famous for - from castles to high quality cars and sausages - the most outstanding product by far is our beer. Of course other countries are well known for their brews as well, but Germany houses a unique beer culture.
No other nation has a purity law for beer or as many different breweries.
About 80% of all the breweries within the European Union are in Germany! In some areas there is a brewery in every village. Small towns can easily host 2 or 3.
The city of Aufsess holds the world record:
4 breweries for 1400 inhabitants; 1 per 350 people.

If you try every day one of the approx. 5500 different german beers it would take you 15 years.

Most of the breweries produce different kinds of beer. Some are common while others can be found only in certain areas or in single cities. And our per capita consumption is still among the highest in the world. Only the Czech people drink more beer than the Germans.
Sadly, this small town beer-producing culture is threatened. Big industrial companies are taking over, smaller breweries are dying. But you can still find them if you know where to go.

Maisels brewery museum in Bayreuth suppose to be the best!

We will show you the spectrum of our beer culture:
•  Visit different breweries, industrial as well as local, family-run    breweries producing  handcrafted beer. Some are even too    small to have a bottling line; the only place to drink it is
   the brewery pub!
•  See the production of the raw materials, especially the hops    farming. Germany has some of the best hops areas in the    world. German hops are exported all over the world.
•  Learn about the connection between monks and beer in a    monastery brewery.
